One PDF, up to 100 MB. Nothing is uploaded; password-protected PDFs are not supported.

About this tool

This tool takes one PDF and cuts it up. You can pull out the pages you want into a new PDF, split the file into several smaller PDFs (every few pages, or by ranges you choose), or delete pages and keep the rest.

The work happens in your browser. The file is read on your own device and is never sent to a server. Pages are copied into the new files rather than redrawn, so their content is not re-compressed.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF or drop it onto the box. The page count appears once it is read.
  2. Pick what to do: extract pages, split into separate files, or remove pages.
  3. Enter the pages or the number of pages per file. Anything wrong is explained under the field as you type.
  4. Press the action button. Extracted or trimmed files download as one PDF; split files download together in a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is processed by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I write the page ranges?
Use page numbers and ranges separated by commas or semicolons. 3 is page 3, 1-3 is pages 1 to 3, 5- is page 5 to the last page, and -4 is pages 1 to 4. Spaces are ignored, so "1-3, 5, 8-" works. Page numbers start at 1 and cannot be higher than the page count.
In what order do the pages come out?
When extracting, pages come out in the order you type them, so "5, 1-2" gives page 5 first, then 1 and 2. A page typed twice appears twice. When removing, the order does not matter and repeated pages are counted once.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
No. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are not supported. Remove the protection in the program that created the file, or save an unprotected copy, and try again.
Does splitting change the quality?
No quality is lost by the split itself. Pages are copied as they are, not rendered again. Because each new file carries the images and fonts its pages use, a file made of a few pages can still be larger than you expect.
Are bookmarks, form fields and links kept?
Not reliably. The visible page content is kept, but bookmarks (outlines), some form fields, links between pages and document-level settings may be lost or changed in the new files.
What is the size limit?
The PDF can be up to 100 MB. Everything is held in your device's memory, so very large files may be slow on phones or older computers.
