Universities convert differently. 9.5 is the CBSE and many Indian engineering colleges formula; others use other multipliers or grade-specific tables. Check your institution's rule before using the percentage officially.

About this tool

CGPA (cumulative grade point average) is the credit-weighted average of your grade points across courses.

Many Indian universities and boards publish their own conversion to a percentage. This tool shows the commonly used CGPA × 9.5 conversion, so confirm your institution's rule before using the figure officially.

How to use it

  1. Pick a scale: 10-point, 4-point or custom.
  2. Add semesters and enter credits and grade for each course.
  3. Read each semester's SGPA, your cumulative CGPA and the trend chart.
  4. Use the target planner to see the grades you need, then export CSV or copy the summary.

Formula

CGPA = Σ(credits × grade point) ÷ Σ(credits)

Approximate percentage = CGPA × 9.5

Example

Courses of 4 credits at grade point 9 and 2 credits at 6 give (4×9 + 2×6) ÷ 6 = 8.00.
