About this tool
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is added to the price of most goods and services in India. This calculator adds GST to a price, or removes it from a price that already includes it.
It also shows the CGST and SGST split, which is half of the GST each for transactions within a state.
How to use it
- Add one or more line items with an amount and the GST rate that applies to each.
- Mark whether each amount already includes GST.
- Choose CGST + SGST (within a state) or IGST (between states).
- Read the rate-wise summary and grand total, view the invoice, and export CSV or print.
Formulas
Excluding GST: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100; total = amount + GST
Including GST: base = amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate); GST = amount − base
Example
₹1,000 excluding GST at 18% gives GST of ₹180 and a total of ₹1,180. ₹1,180 including 18% GST has a base of ₹1,000.
Frequently asked questions
- Which GST rate should I use?
- Use the rate that applies to your goods or service under the official GST rate schedule. Rates are revised from time to time, so check the current schedule.
- What about IGST?
- For transactions between states, the full GST amount is charged as IGST. Switch the mode and the same total is shown as IGST instead of CGST + SGST.
- Does it replace a proper invoice?
- No. The invoice view is a convenient printout of your calculation. Always confirm rates and invoice requirements against the official GST rules.
